About Joni McIntyre, RN, MS, PA-C

Joni McIntyre, RN, MS, PA-C joined the surgical practice of Charles Castillo, M.D., F.A.C.S. in July 2013 and together they form a team to provide the best possible patient care. Working in collaboration, they are able to thoroughly address each and every patient’s needs. As an integral part of this team, Joni provides continuity of care so patients and their families receive the comprehensive and compassionate treatment they deserve.

Joni completed a physician assistant education program and is licensed to practice medicine with a licensed physician. In this capacity, she is able to diagnose and treat patients, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications and assist in surgery. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Joni earned her Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies at A.T. Still University. In addition, she has completed an elective post-graduate surgical residency program for Physician Assistants at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York. Prior to becoming a Certified Surgical Physician Assistant, she practiced as an RN for over 15 years, having received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Brigham Young University.

When not at work caring for patients, Joni enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, biking, swimming and scuba diving. Her philosophy is, "Live the life you love…love the life you live!" and she is committed to giving excellent medical care to help her patients do just that.
